WRITE

Writing is more than just holding a pencil. Young children need caring adults to provide the years of practice needed to get their fingers and their minds ready. Their little fingers need fine motor strength, coordination, motor memory and skill to organize their thoughts and movements to write and draw.

Make the Connection

Learning to write requires both an active brain and an active body. Any activity that requires movement from right to left and left to right can build both of these! Think of moving baby’s hands and feet this way or encouraging your toddler to crawl. Even pointing to words with your finger while you read encourages children’s eyes to move this way!
