  • Ask your child to “act out” a book for you. If a character is sad, ask your child to make a sad face. If a character jumps up and down, encourage your child to jump up and down. 
     

  • Let your child tell you a story. Ask your child to make up a story to go with the pictures in a book.

  • Read your world! Read aloud signs, labels, menus and more as you travel through your day.
     

  • Read funny books and use silly voices. Everyone loves to laugh.
     

  • Go to the library and let your child pick out books to take home.
     

  • Some children love to sit and listen; some children need to move. Choose books with action for children who love to wiggle.
