  • Ask your baby questions like “Where’s your blanket?” and then answer them “Here it is!”

  • Make it a two-way conversation. When your baby babbles or makes sounds, respond by saying something back. 
     

  • Talk in a slow sing-song voice and repeat words often.
     

  • Copy the sounds your baby makes.
     

  • Ask your baby questions and then answer them. This helps your baby learn to listen and talk!
     

  • Let your baby look in a mirror and ask, “Who’s that?” then say your baby’s name. Point to her nose, ears, eyes, etc. Name each body part as you point to it.
     

  • Hold your baby close so he can look in your eyes.  Talk to him and remember to smile.
     

  • Talk through daily activities, step by step: "I'm filling up your bathtub. The water feels nice and warm. Let's use the yellow sponge to wash your toes!"
